Text4baby
The Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition is excited to be the statewide coordinator for text4baby, the first ever free mobile health service providing health tips to pregnant women and new moms.
An educational program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) text4baby provides pregnant women and new moms with information to help them care for their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. Women who sign up for the service by texting BABY to 511411(or BEBE for Spanish) will receive free SMS text messages each week, timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth.
Message Topics include:
Immunization
Nutrition
Seasonal flu
Mental health
Birth defects prevention
Oral health
Safe sleep
and connecting women to prenatal care and infant health services

text4baby Summer Sign-Up Contest
The text4baby Summer Sign-Up Contest is an opportunity for YOU to get credit for promoting text4baby! The 20 contestants who get the most people to enroll in text4baby between July 8th and September 10th will win a year’s supply of Baby products and a special gift that you can use yourself or donate, courtesy of text4baby’s Founding Sponsor, Johnson & Johnson. Additionally, by participating in the Summer Sign-Up Contest and enrolling more women in text4baby, you will also be helping Illinois win the State Enrollment Contest!
Here are a couple of tips to help you get started:
- Tell every pregnant woman and new mom you interact with about text4baby. If they haven’t already signed up for the program, help them enroll on the spot. Make sure to get credit for all your referrals by adding each woman’s phone number to the Contest form.
- Work with your agency as a team and encourage everyone in your office to participate in the Summer Sign-Up Contest. To maximize your chances of winning, pick one of your colleague’s cell phone number to use in the Contest form. This way, all of your referrals will be credited to one person.
You can also encourage fans of text4baby to participate in the contest – download a black/white or color flyer that you can include in your outreach efforts.
To sign up for the contest, visit the Summer Sign-Up Contest Form page on the text4baby national website.
