#StandwithPeggy

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in an important case on pregnant worker's rights, Peggy Young v. United Parcel Service (UPS). Peggy Young was denied "light duty" work at her job at UPS despite her doctor's orders to not lift more than 20 pounds while she was pregnant. Like many pregnant workers, especially those in low-wage jobs, Peggy was forced to go on unpaid leave. Here in Illinois, we have additional protections for pregnant workers, guaranteeing that they will be given "reasonable accommodations" by their employers. We hope the Supreme Court will stand with pregnant workers across the country in this case.
