ICSHC strives to improve the physical and mental health of children and adolescents in Illinois by fostering the development, stabilization and expansion of school health centers (SHCs). SHCs provide quality, comprehensive, and culturally competent services to disadvantaged youth and are dedicated to providing the most up to date care possible. Building Bridges: Healthy Minds, Bodies, Communities explores the importance of collaboration in SHCs to address the physical and mental health needs of children and adolescents. The conference will foster dialogue between school health center staff and allies to develop innovative approaches for reducing barriers youth face when accessing health care. ICSHC’s conference will attract a variety of professionals, from health care providers and mental health specialists, to hospital and clinic administrators that determine services at SHCs. 

• Promote the integration of mental health services in SHCs

• Address the impact of mental health issues in SHCs

• Promote community collaboration in SHCs that focus on the holistic health of youth

• Provide resources and support for developing school health centers

• Enrich and strengthen the skills of clinicians, administrators, allied staff, and advocates in the school health center setting

• Provide opportunities for attendees to share ideas, information and experiences.

• Interactive Workshops offering information for mental health providers, health center staff and administrators, and child and adolescent health advocates.
