Illinois Coalition for School Health Centers (ICSHC)
Youth Advisory Council's (YAC) Mission
Who are we?
We are the YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL (YAC) of the Illinois Coalition for School Health Centers. We are students who care about the healthcare needs of our peers.
It’s hard for people our age to find affordable, accessible and QUALITY healthcare; that’s why we work hard to make positive change for school health centers or full-service medical clinics in schools. Students who can get convenient, affordable and teen-friendly healthcare are more likely to stay healthy, stay in school and be successful!
What are our goals?
Our goals are to
- Communicate the importance and facts around school health centers to other students, teachers, families, communities and policy makers
- Make sure that the school health centers in Illinois stay strong and keep growing
We do this by:
- Developing and implementing school health center campaigns at our schools
- Designing the statewide Key Campaign and Contest
- Organizing Advocacy Day
- Participating in regular ICSHC meetings and events
- Presenting to legislators and other policy makers
