Chicago Area Immunization Campaign (CAIC)
Public Awareness Committee
The Public Awareness Committee creates public education programs by developing messages that highlight immunizations across the lifespan. The committee also plans and implements strategies on how to disseminate these messages. Campaign members ensure that information is culturally sensitive and correct. In addition, new immunizations will be explained and promoted.
The CAIC brings together community-based organizations to craft strategies that will reach communities whose coverage levels are particularly low. Through the work of the Public Awareness Committee, the CAIC effectively spreads the word that infants need to receive a complete series of immunizations by age two and that there are immunizations across the lifespan.
Responsibilities of the committee include promoting and assisting with General Meetings, National Infant Immunization Week, the Adult Immunization Project, and other activities that the Committee establishes as areas of need.
