Chicago Area Immunization Campaign (CAIC)
Data Collection
The CAIC collects immunization data to use for program planning and evaluation. Data is gathered from the National Immunization Survey (NIS), the Illinois State Board of Education, the Chicago Department of Public Health and Medicaid.

- Chicago achieved higher series completion rates than Illinois and the US
- Chicago ranked 18th highest among 63 Immunization Action Plan (IAP) Areas and 5th highest coverage rate of 12 cities/counties
- Illinois ranked 28thhighest series completion rate among 63 IAP Areas and 19th among all 50 states
Individual Vaccine Coverage Trends: Chicago 2007-2009

Coverage rates near or above HP2010 Objective of 90% for 5 of the 6 recommended childhood vaccines: Polio, Hib, HepB, MMR, and Varicella
Lowest completion rate for an individual vaccine in the recommended (4:3:1:3:3:1) series was with the 4thDTaP (81%)
Improved coverage on MMR and Varicella vaccines from 87% in 2008 to above 90% on both
Chicago consistently ranked in the top 5 among 12 NIS City/County IAP areas in coverage levels for nearly all recommended vaccines, except Polio
